Little Piece Of Heaven / The Staircase

Left to act as the man of the family after the death of his adopted parents, Will (Kirk Cameron) has dedicated himself to making his mentally handicapped sister, Violet (Jenny Robertson), happy. When she wants to have children to play with, her brother discovers that he can make Violet's wish come true and provide a safe home for neglected children. But Will's unorthodox methods, while made with the purest heart, are illegal, and he is going to need the help of the wise and caring Edwina McKevin (Cloris Leachman) to convince the authorities that he is not a criminal. Heart and imagination are pitted against an unfeeling bureaucracy, as Will struggles to win a good life for the children and keep himself out of jail. "The Staircase" - Based on the real legend of the "miraculous stairway" at the Sisters of Loretto Chapel in Santa Fe, New Mexico, "The Staircase" is an inspirational, life-affirming drama of hope and faith. Mother Madalyn's (Barbara Hershey) last wish is that her beloved but unfinished chapel will be completed. Sister Margaret (Diane Ladd) would do anything to make Mother Madalyn's wish a reality, but the project seems hopeless. When the local carpenters built the chapel, they neglected to erect stairs up to the choir loft, and due to the confines of the chapel's construction, adding a staircase is now impossible. The arrival of Joad (William Petersen), a mysterious stranger, may be the answer to Mother Madalyn's prayers, but Joad faces overwhelming odds. The task defies the laws of architecture and the town's corrupt businessmen want to ensure that the staircase is never completed.
